About this print
Downtown Chicago's freight yards, rail lines and tunnel system, with a proposed circuit all feeding into central clearing yards. Drawn in ink, watercolor and pastel right over a printed map for the 1909 Plan of Chicago. Daniel Burnham and Edward Bennett tackled freight logistics with the same ambition as boulevards, and it shows.
