White Cockatoo on a Perch

A white cockatoo hangs head-down off its perch inside a black tondo, flanked by two small painted bowls, entirely unbothered. It comes from a Meiji-era set reproducing Jakuchu designs as rubbing prints, so the bird reads as a pale cut-out against solid black. The upside-down pose is the whole joke and it lands.
