About this print
Terror at full tilt: eyes wide, brows high, mouth open in red chalk. It copies one of Charles Le Brun's expressions of the passions, a teaching tool for French academy painters that became a European standard. The vintage spelling adds an extra letter, and the face adds about ten extra years.
