About this print
Ruan Xiaoqi, one of the hundred and eight bandit-heroes of the Water Margin, shown as a heavily tattooed fighter working in the water. This series made Kuniyoshi's name and is widely credited with setting off a tattoo craze in Edo, which is a rare case of an art print measurably changing what people did to their bodies.
