A playful mermaid, cut in color woodcut and finished with lithography by Henri Héran for Pan, the lavish German art magazine of the late 1890s. Pan championed the new Jugendstil look, all curving lines and moody palettes. Mermaids were having a big moment in Symbolist art, and this one appears to be enjoying herself. Whimsical and a bit mysterious, great for bathrooms and beach houses.
