About this print
Young newsboys in St. Louis, photographed at eleven in the morning on May 9, 1910, when they should arguably have been in school. Lewis Hine made pictures like this to document child labor in America, and his camera helped push the country toward reform. Caps, attitude, and a very pointed piece of photojournalism.
