An albumen print portrait of Margaret Frances Langton Clarke, taken in 1864 and printed around 1866. Its photographer, the Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, is better known as Lewis Carroll, author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. He was also a dedicated amateur photographer during the medium's early, fussy, chemical heavy days. Victorian portraiture straight from the rabbit hole.
