About this print
Kabuki superstar Ichikawa Danjuro V plays the skeletal spirit of the renegade monk Seigen, haunting Iwai Hanshiro IV as the Cherry Princess. Katsukawa Shunsho was the leading actor print designer of his day, and these were basically celebrity posters for Edo theater fans. Romance, obsession and bones: a very full evening at the theater.
