Fool's Folly comes from the Disparates, Goya's late and famously baffling run of etchings, the ones scholars still argue over like a group chat with no context. Etched between 1816 and 1819, they were only published after his death, and this impression dates to the 1877 printing. Aquatint gives it that velvety, smoky gloom. Nobody fully knows what it means, which is exactly why it works over a bar cart.
